Karen Mae (Yost) Rose the daughter of Stanley and Florence (Clatte) Yost was born October 17, 1939 at Bladen, Nebraska. She departed this life on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the Webster County Hospital in Red Cloud, Nebraska at the age of 77 years.

Karen was baptized at the Bladen Methodist Church and graduated from Bladen High School with the class of 1957. Karen was united in marriage to Virgil Dean Rose on August 2, 1958 at Doniphan, NE. This union was blessed with the birth three children, one son and two daughters: David Dean, Cynthia Mae and Susan Mae.

Karen and Virgil lived in Hastings, NE for 5 years and she worked at the City National Bank. In 1964 the couple moved to a farm near Guide Rock, NE. In 1976 they purchase a farm near Cowles, NE. Virgil and Karen built up the farmstead. In 1990 this farm was in the path of a tornado and was completely destroyed except for the shop, which was demaged and the basement of the house. Only by the grace of God were their lives spared. The moved back in the basement of the house and made it into a comfortable home for themselves.

In 1994 they retired from farming and purchased land outside of Red Cloud, NE and began building a new home where they resided until the time of her death.

Karen was a member of the Cowles United Methodist Church where she served as church treasurer until the church closed in 2009 and became a member of the Red Cloud Methodist Church. She was a member of United Methodist Women and served in all officer positions over the years. She was district officer for the United Methodist Women for 11 years, a member of the American Legion Auxillary #238 of Red Cloud. She served on the election board for more than 20 years and ws inducted into the Pollworkers Hall of Fame. Karen was a 4-H leader, Sunday School Teacher. She loved working for the church and helping others less forunite. Her hobbies included: canning, gardening and flowers.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Lloyd O'Dale and sister Bonnie Marlene Yost.

Survivors include her husband Virgil Rose of Red Cloud, NE; son David Dean Rose and wife Renee of Red Cloud, NE; daughters: Cynthia Mae Hobbs and husband Ulayn of Red Cloud, NE; Susan Kae Rose of Bangkok, Thailand; grandchildren: Nicholas Hobbs and wife Julie of East Alton, IL; Kelsey Hobbs of Florida; Benijmin Hobbs of Red Cloud, NE and Lucas Hobbs of Lincoln, NE; other relatives and a host of friends.

Services will be held this Wednesday 10:00 AM July 26, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Red Cloud, NE. Rev. Warren Schoming will be officiating. Burial will be held in the Rosemont Oak Creek Presbyterian Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at wmsfh.com. Williams Funeral Home of Red Cloud, NE is in charge of the arrangements.
