María Tomasa de Gracia Cota y Lugo was born at Santa Bárbara on September 14 1795, and baptized the following day (BP Baptism 00133). She was the daughter of álferez (ensign) Pablo Cota y León and Rosa María Lugo y Martínez. She married soldado Antonio María Olivera y Féliz (bap. May 26, 1785 [SBV Baptism 00113]-After 1852, Santa Barbara) at the Santa Bárbara Presidio Chapel April 10, 1809 (BP Marriage 00066). Tomasa died shortly after giving birth at about 7:00 AM on February 25, and was buried in the mission cemetery on February 27, 1811 (BP Death 00140).
