Joshua was a very gentle soul with a soft spoken demeanor and friendly smile. Although he didn't like to compete against others, throughout high school he enjoyed and excelled at competitive swimming because he felt he was really competing against himself. Later he enjoyed movies and video games with his brother and friends.
He was a son of Drs. Stephen & Rosalind(Rayack) Atkins of Woodbridge. They worked tirelessly for many years to provide Joshua and Michael a comfortable and enjoyable life despite the difficulties implosed by their degenerative disease.
Like his brother, who predeceased him, he fought for many years but finally succumbed to mitochondrial disease.
A memorial service for Joshua was held at Congregation B'nai Jacob in Woodbridge and was attended by many family members and family friends.
