Robert “Bob” L. Greiner, 93, of Gridley, IL, formerly of Cissna Park, IL passed away at 5:47 p.m., Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Fairview Haven Nursing Home in Fairbury.

He was born July 6, 1924 in Hancock, MN a son of August and Caroline (Reber) Greiner. He married Eileen M. Knapp Schlipf on April 16, 1972 in Cissna Park, IL. She passed away on November 29, 2016 in Fairbury.

He is also preceded in death by his parents and nine sisters, Mary Moser, Frieda Eisenmann, Rose Eurich, Lydia Osmun, Tillie Rudin, Anna Mae Joos, Elsi Greiner, Esther Batt and Helen Joos; five brothers, John, Ben, Otto, Emil and Howard Greiner.

Surviving is one step-daughter, Ardean (Larry) Stoller of Gridley, IL; three grandchildren, Christine (Matt) Ginzel of West Lafayette, IN, Nathan (Leslie) Romersberger of Bloomington, Philip (Becky) Romersberger of Gridley; eight great-grandchildren, Anna and Julia Gingel, Payton, Pierson, Cooper, Braxton, Eli and Penelope Romersberger.

Mr. Greiner was a member of the Gridley Apostolic Christian Church in Gridley and was baptized in Elgin in 1946. He was a retired carpenter and Army veteran of WW II serving in the South Pacific and Philippine Islands.

A special Thank You to the staff at Fairview Haven Nursing Home for the outstanding care and compassion given to Mr. Greiner.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, July 24, 2017 at the Apostolic Christian Church of Gridley. Church Ministers will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 2 to 5p.m. at the Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. on Monday before the service at the church. Burial will be in Gridley Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Harvest Call, Fairview Haven Nursing Home or Gridley Emergency Medical Squad (G.E.M.S.).
