Mr. Harold Rayburn Holt, age 89, of Huntingdon, Tennessee formerly of Madison, Indiana. Rayburn which he was known by entered this life on September 4, 1927 in Madison, Indiana. He was the son of the late Harold B. and Jessie Kurtz Holt. Rayburn was raised Catholic and attended school in Madison. He worked early in life on the family farm and was later employed with Ewing Dairy as a Milk tester. He enlisted in the United States Navy on November 17, 1944 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He rose to the rate of Seaman Second Class serving on the USS Egeria (ARL8) in the Asiatic -Pacific Theater during World War II. He was honorably discharged on July 3, 1946 at Great Lakes, Illinois receiving the American Area Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Area Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. After his honorable discharge in 1946 he worked in roofing and construction in Texas, and at one point owned and operated a shrimp fishing business off of the Gulf of Mexico. Rayburn loved animals, especially dogs, and later raised and bred Great Pyrenees dogs on his farm in Tennessee. Rayburn died on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.

HIS FAMILY
Rayburn was preceded in death by his father, Harold B. Holt, his mother, Jessie Kurtz Holt, his son, Mark Steven Holt, died March 2, 2015, his step son, Billy Williams, Jr., his first wife, Norma Nadine Wilson, died February 23, 2010, and his second wife, Helen Raydean Meadows.

FUNERAL CEREMONY
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., by Chaplain Stan Henry at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana.

VISITATION
Friends may call Tuesday from 10:30 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana.

MILITARY HONORS
A final salute and full military honors will be conducted at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel by Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m.
