Elizabeth "Lib" Armfield Hobson, age 95 of Asheboro, died on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 24, 2017 at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church, 224 N. Fayetteville St., Asheboro with Rev. Lynda Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.

The widow of Walter L. Hobson, Jr. she had resided in Asheboro since 1946. She was born April 29, 1922 in Greensboro, NC the daughter of the late George W. and Grace Cutchin Armfield. She attended schools in Greensboro, Leaksville (now Eden), and Elon College where she was a cheerleader for 3 years. She retired from Randolph Surgical Clinic.

Mrs. Hobson was active in many community and church activities and was a member of the Blanche McGlohon Sunday School class at First United Methodist Church. She was also honored as a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow by her brother Dr. George W. "Bill" Armfield.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Patricia H. Battle of California, brother Dr. George W. Armfield of Lenoir, and son-in-law Charles Phillip Ennis of Greensboro.

Survivors are daughter, Judith H. Ennis of Greensboro; son, Joseph L. Hobson and wife Donna of Asheboro; and son-in-law, Richard Battle of California; six grandchildren, LeAnn B. Laridon of California, Karen B. Cabrera and husband Robert of California, Scott Ennis of Raleigh, Wendy E. Kokkonis and husband Paris of Greensboro, Sarah Beth H. Campbell and husband Todd of Asheboro, and Kathryn Hobson of Asheboro; great grandchildren, Aubrey L. Dragonette of California, Tatum Battle of California, Liam Laridon of California, Eva and Will Cabrera of California, Emma Ennis of Raleigh, Jaxon Campbell of Asheboro, and Philippos and Anastacia Kokkonis of Greensboro; sister-in-law, Vivian Armfield of Lenoir; and several nieces and nephews.

Her grandchildren and great grandchildren especially cherish the presence of their "Mimi" in their lives, as they were cherished by her.
