Zelma “Zookie” (Mrs. Love) Elizabeth Johnson, 85, of Deer Park passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 21, 2017. She loved her family & God. Like her mother and daughter, she was a huge Astros fan. She was the undeniable matriarch of her family. Zookie was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Mae Love Matlock. She was born at home in Houston, Texas on March 13, 1932 to Sarah & Clarence Erickson. She was the youngest of five children – all of whom have preceded her in death, including her parents. Zookie is survived by a daughter, Deborah Lowe and husband (favorite son-in-law) Bill, Three grandsons, Eric Medford and wife, Rebecca, Craig Saucier and Ronnie Matlock. She also was “Grandmother” or “Nana” to Six great-grandchildren, Taylor, Zoe & Brody Medford, Daymon & Grayson Saucier & Ryleigh Matlock. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 24, 2017 with Pastor Jerry Garner officiating. Interment Southpark Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until service time at Deer Park Funeral Directors.
