EAST MOUNTAIN -- Douglas Wes Medlin, 89 of East Mountain was born on March 14, 1928 in East Mountain, Texas to John Wesley and Lela Gammage Medlin.
He passed from this life in Overton, Texas on July 11, 2017. A memorial service will be held in Midway, Texas on Saturday, July 22 at 1 P.M. at the Frontier Cowboy Church with Brother Metcalf officiating.
He is survived by his sons, Douglas Lee and wife, Darla, and by Dennis and wife Elaine, two grandsons, Stephen and wife Mandie Medlin and B.J. Medlin, three great grandkids, Cade, Alexis and Audrey.
Mr. Medlin was preceded in death by his wife, Lynn Medlin, by his parents and all six siblings and by one granddaughter, Dennita.
We want to thank everyone at Overton Healthcare Center and Heart to Heart Hospice for the loving care of both Dad and as well as our Mother Barbara Ellis with a special thanks to Samantha.
Dad's ashes were scattered in his favorite Fox pen in Union Grove, Texas in Upshur County on a hill where he sat and told great stories for hours with a spellbound audience. Dad was a Master Story Teller and that was where he was most happy. My brother wanted to do it that way. I agreed that Dad would have been so pleased.
