Civil War Veteran
Sergeant
6th Regiment
Vermont Infantry
Co K

The 6th regiment mustered in October 15, 1861 and mustered out June 26, 1865.

Clark, born in Vermont, was the son of Michael and Anna (Shepard) Clapper, both born Canada. His brothers, Harrison and Richard, also served in the Civil War.

On August 21, 1867, Clark married Alice Lord in Chelmsford, Massachusetts.

Vital records state that Clark's death on July 23, 1880 in Chelmsford was accidental. Two years prior, his young son, Sammy, had succumbed to pneumonia. Tragedy struck the Clapper family again in 1905 when his daughter, Emma, perished in a massive industrial explosion at Grover's Shoe Factory in Brocton, Massachusetts.
