Ora May Wilson passed away on April 2, 2017 with her loving family by her side. She was born September 5, 1928 at Lake Shore, Utah County, Utah. She was the oldest daughter of James Andrew Sorensen and Lillian Alice Beddoes Sorensen.
Ora May attended schools in Los Angeles, California, Lake Shore and Spanish Fork, Utah. She graduated from Spanish Fork High School. She also graduated from Stevens-Henager Business College and Weber State Institute of Religion. While in school she excelled in music, drama, speech and history. She also was a member of the soft ball team.
Ora May was blessed with a pleasant singing voice and sang solos, duets and in the choirs in all the wards where she lived. She was a member of the Lake Shore Vaudville group which performed all over the surrounding counties.
During World War II she sang with her Uncle Melvin’s orchestra in Los Angeles entertaining the service men.
Ora May told everyone she was a hard working farm girl. While on the family farm she belonged to the 4-H clubs for seven years receiving awards at the county fairs for sewing, cooking and home management.
Ora May Sorensen and Owen Grant Losee were married and sealed on September 6, 1944 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Three children were born to this union: Evelyn L. (Charles) Maitland, O. Grant (Lynn) Losee and James R. (Marsha) Losee. The family moved to Ogden, Utah in 1950. They were later divorced. Ora May married Paul Elmer Wilson on May 14, 1959 at her home in Ogden, Utah. They were later sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple on August 9, 1978. From this union two children were born: Clyde P. (Julie) Wilson and Paulette W. (Tom) Comstock.
Ora May supported her children while she attended college. During her working years she worked for Child Haven Nursery, Holmes Insurance Co., Lloyd Berrett Service, Skaggs Drug and ZCMI.
Paul helped her raise her three children and their two children. Paul was a very special blessing to her. They worked well together raising their children, vacationing and having good family times together. They were able to travel to many places in the world.
Ora May was blessed with a pleasant disposition, a happy smile and a great love and testimony of her Savior Jesus Christ. She loved her Heavenly Father and tried very hard to follow His commandments. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings and was very proud of serving over 40 years in the Primary.
Ora May is survived by her four children; sister, Iva Dell Woodman; sister-in-law, Ila Mae Sorensen; 25 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul; her parents; daughter, Evelyn Maitland; grandson, Ryan Losee and her three brothers.
A Viewing will be on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Leavitt’s Mortuary. Friends may visit with the family prior to services from 1:00 to 1:45 pm.
