Born in Pickens County, he was the son of Thomas Lee Nixon of Easley and Sheila Gable Nixon of Anderson. Joshua was a ten year veteran of the US Army having served in Iraq and Germany. He obtained his Associates Degree from ECPI in Computer Science and was previously enrolled at Greenville Technical College in the Health Science's Radiology Program. He had been employed with Windstream Communications where he worked in network security and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving along with his parents is a sister: Jessica Nixon Miller and husband Andrew of Easley; step-mother: Darla Nixon; maternal grandparents: Carroll and Kate Peterson of Travelers Rest and Jerry and Linda Gable of Pickens; aunt: Angie Smith and husband Chris of Easley; uncles: Stanford Gable and David Perry of Philadelphia, PA; cousins: Jacob Smith and wife Madeline and Lena Smith; step-sister: Dana Baker and husband Craig of Seneca.
Joshua was predeceased by his paternal grandparents: James Thomas and Mildred Thompson Nixon.
