Julia Nottingham Scott Long, 84, wife of the late Thomas Berry Long. Jr. and resident of “Holly Dale” in Dalby’s, VA, for 53 years, died peacefully at the home of her daughter surrounded by family. She entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 27, 2015 in Morristown, NJ.

Born at “Bayview” in Dalbys, VA, she was the daughter of the late Frank Downes Scott, Sr. and Mary Goffigon Jarvis Scott. She attended the College of William and Mary and Smithdeal-Massey Business College. She was a homemaker and also worked tirelessly with the family farming business throughout her life. She enjoyed being known as a farmer's daughter & farmer's wife. She was a dedicated member of Holmes Presbyterian Church and of the Holmes Presbyterian Women.
As a faithful wife and devoted mother and grandmother who saw child-rearing as her calling, she has left a wonderful example of sacrificial service to others.

She is survived by her children; Thomas Berry Long, III and wife, Elizabeth of Tavares, FL, Daniel Scott Long and his wife Lenae of Cape Charles, VA, David Luettinger Long and wife Virginia of Cape Charles, VA,  Julia Long Mason and husband Brian of Glen Allen, VA, Samuel Jarvis Long and wife Terri, of Cheriton, VA,  Mary Jarvis Long Futrell and husband Scott of Memphis, TN, Marietta Luettinger Long Muchmore and husband Eric of Morristown, NJ, John Scott Long, and wife Janet of Palm City, FL, Emily Elizabeth Goffigon Long Majmundar and husband Ashish of Randolph, NJ, Virginia Adams Jarvis Long O’Dell and husband Clark of Jacksonville, FL; one brother, Frank Downes Scott, Jr. of Mt. Dora, FL, and sisters, Mary Goffigon Scott Buck, of Cape Charles, VA, Emily Jarvis Scott Seawell, of Winston-Salem, NC, and Jessie Scott LeMoyne of Ormond Beach, FL; 42 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; 24 nieces and nephews; and many loving family members.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two children: Baby Long, January 19, 1965, and Helen Masters Nottingham Long, two brothers: William Lucius Scott II and Thomas Jarvis Scott Sr., and sister Anna Downes Scott Barbee.
