Garden City/Vidalia - Mr. Don Williford, age 74, of Garden City, died Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Summer's Landing in Vidalia after a brief illness.


He was a native of Oak Park and lived most of his adult life in the Savannah area. He retired after many years as a construction plumber and was a member of Local Union 188 in Savannah. He served in the United States Army and was a former member of Friendship Baptist Church in Midway. He was the valedictorian of his graduating class from Oak Park High School and loved history, family genealogy, and sharing nostalgic memories, puzzles, classic country music, and old western movies.


Don was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Annie Mae Lumley Williford; and six siblings, R.L. Williford, Otis Williford, Ottis Williford, Geneva Williford Waters, Ruth Williford Hall, and infant sister, Carolyn Williford.


Mr. Williford is survived by one daughter, Donna Williford Montgomery of the Richmond Hill/Savannah area and now lives with her husband, James, in Virginia Beach, Virginia; four brothers, Ray Williford and wife Faye of Jacksonville, Florida, Bobby Williford and wife Jackie of Jesup, Aubrey Williford and wife Shirley of Florida, and Rudolph Williford of Vidalia; one sister, Margrette Williford Foskey of Oak Park; two granddaughters, Amelia and Tess Montgomery; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.


The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 22nd at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Andy Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Findley Cemetery near Oak Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
