Gregory L. Gramlick, 66, of Sioux Falls, SD died Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls. His funeral service will be 10:30 AM Saturday, July 22 at First Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls, with burial at Hills of Rest Cemetery. Visitation begins at 5:00 PM Friday, July 21 at George Boom Funeral Home & Crematory, Sioux Falls, where the family will greet friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Gregory Louis Gramlick, son of Oscar and Betty Lou (Moss) Gramlick, was born while the couple was on vacation in Beatrice, Nebraska on August 9, 1950. He grew up in California and graduated from Gardena High School in 1968.

Upon graduating, he enlisted in the Army and proudly served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1971. He fought valiantly alongside his brother, Michael F. Gramlick, who, unfortunately, lost his life in Vietnam in 1969.

After serving his country, Greg returned to his family's home in Colorado, where he met his future wife, Jane Thorson. He followed Jane to Sioux Falls, South Dakota and the couple married on October 21, 1972. Greg worked for Century Link, formally known as Northwestern Bell, from 1971 to 1991. They started their family and welcomed three children. In 1986, Greg and his family moved to Omaha, Nebraska. He retired in 1991, eventually returning to Sioux Falls in 1992.

Greg was infamous for pulling pranks; he always had a "dad joke" that was sure to brighten the room and bring laughter… If his jokes failed to illuminate his audience (which was rare), he could use a flashlight from his vast collection.

In addition to loving his family, Greg enjoyed an action-packed social life. The PVA pheasant hunt, fishing tournament, and elk hunt in Wyoming were all events Greg cherished greatly. Additionally, he attended Stag Night at the VFW monthly with several longtime-friends.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Jane; his son, Michael and his wife, Abigail, Sioux Falls, SD; his daughters, Stacy Warwick and her husband, Mark, Sioux Falls, SD and Steffanie Danley and her husband, Kasey, Sioux Falls, SD. Greg cherished his six grandchildren, Gage and Delaney Gramlick, Tanner and Gaven Warwick, and Brayden and Brianna Danley. He is also survived by his brother, Jack Gramlick and his wife, Nicole, Adkins, TX; and his large extended family and friends.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Betty Lou; his stepmother, Mary (Sherman) Gramlick; his brother, Michael Gramlick; his sister, Catherine Brooks; and two nephews, Justin Luna and John Swain.

In lieu of flowers, Greg's desire was that expressions of sympathy be given in the form of donations to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Disabled American Veterans, or the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Greg always lived life to the fullest and will be dearly missed and loved always.
