Mrs. Shirley Burke of Golden, died Friday, June 9, 2017, in Fairplay, CO, of a heart attack.

The funeral service will be held at 2pm Saturday, June 17 at Fairmount Bible Church, Golden, followed by a burial service at Crown Hill Cemetery, Wheat Ridge, with a reception after at the church. Memorials should be directed to Fairmount Bible Church.

The former Shirley Jean Basham was born May 11, 1946, in La Junta, CO, the daughter of Roy and Evelyn Basham. The youngest of seven children, Shirley was the only one born in a hospital. She attended schools in Edler, CO, and was a graduate of Campo High School and Otero Junior College in La Junta.

Shirley moved to Denver after college and was married to Mr. Gerald (Jerry) Burke June 26, 1971, at the Edgewater Baptist Church. After working for a heavy equipment company, she stayed home to raise her children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Jeanette Greathouse, and brother, Jimmie Basham.

Shirley is survived by her husband, a son David (Amy), Wheat Ridge; a daughter Sarah Shepard (Brandon), Thornton; grandchildren Grace Burke, Evelyn (Evey) and Tobias (Toby) Shepard; siblings Betty Eden, Jerry Basham, Carol Brown and Leta Burke; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
