George William Hansen died on Monday, July 3, 2017. He was born in Florence, South Carolina on Aug. 16, 1925.

He lived in Florence with his parents and five siblings until the age of seven, when his family moved to Newaygo, Missouri. When he was 16, he moved to California.

At 17, he joined the Navy and served as Quartermaster C/2 for just less than three years. He then began his career with Davison of Highways (Cal-Trans) as a surveyor and retired 50 years later as a resident engineer.

He met his wife Rosie in 1944 and they were married December 30, 1950.

He is survived by his daughters, Shinwell Grutsch of Eugene, Ore., and Debra Walker of Chico; grandchildren Susan FRancis of Oregon, Tyson Lowe of Willows, Jordon Lowe of Murrieta, Graham Lowe of Chico, Emily Thomas of Chico, and Colby Hansen of Chico; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie, and a son, Jeffrey.

Services are scheduled for Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the Willows Cemetery, followed by fellowship at the Willows Elk Lodge. F.D. Sweet and Son is handling the arrangements.
