Linda Anne Jones was the daughter of Mary Jo Arnold Jones and Marion Dalton Jones and was born January 22, 1948 in Seymour, Texas. She died surrounded by her loved ones January 2, 2017 in Houston, Texas.

Linda lived in Houston all of her adult life. She was a proud member of the LGBTQ community in Houston. She volunteered in a number of local Democratic political campaigns, volunteered as a practical nurse during Houston's HIV epidemic, and served as President of the Houston National Organization for Women. Throughout her life she advocated social justice.

In 1966 she graduated as salutatorian from Denton Senior High School in Denton, Texas. In 1976 she graduated with a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Houston. She worked throughout her life. Despite being confined to a wheel chair later in life, she worked as a substitute teacher until just a few months before her death.

Being a mother meant the world to Linda. She treasured children and was a fierce advocate for them. She was fun-loving and participated in many activities with them such as riding roller coasters, swimming at the beach, picnicking, or going to the zoo or aquarium.

Her Christian faith sustained her; it deepened through the years. She prayed daily for her family, friends, and the state of the world.

She leaves behind her adopted daughter Ashley Walden and Ashley's fiancée Chris Bonsky and grandsons Jonah Byrom and Matthew Bonsky; her sister Pam, brother-in-law John, and nephew Michael Indo from Houston, Texas; her sister Karen, brother-in-law Denton, niece Kate, and nephew Tim Langridge from Humble, Texas; brother David, sister-in-law Maria, and nephews Greg and Nick Arledge from Austin, Texas; aunt Mary Alice Cone Arnold from Houston; cousins Bill Arnold, Bruce Arnold, Brent Arnold, Bob Arnold, Janet Arnold Frame, Janie McCrary Hays, and Sandi McCrary Rhea and their families; godmother to Ashley and Linda's close friend, Chris McCarty; various "adopted" nieces; and many friends and other family members.

She tried hard throughout her life to develop and maintain loving relationships with friends and family. She loved and was loved.
