LOUISBURG - Edith Joyner Griffin, 91, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at Franklin Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Centerville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Aaron Land officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
She was born to the late William Robert and Luna Murphy Joyner. She is the widow of Bennie Melville Griffin and was also preceded in death by her son, Bennie Melville Griffin, Jr., and her sister, Josephine Joyner Champion. She retired from Franklin Memorial Hospital and was a long time member of Centerville Baptist Church, where she served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and choir member.
Surviving: son La-Verne (Jane) Griffin of Louisburg; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
