Gregory Kent Buchanan, age 66, son of the late Joe & Gussye Williams-Buchanan and Retired Alachua County Schools Employee, peacefully transitioned on Monday, June 26, 2017, in Gainesville, FL at his residence.
Gregory was a 1969 Graduate of Gainesville High School who later attended Southern Illinois University. He was a life-time Member of Williams Temple Church of God in Christ (founded by his Uncle, Bishop Henry Williams) where he formerly enjoyed playing as an Organist. Gregory also shared his ministry of music with other churches in the Alachua County Area.
The Homegoing Celebration will be held 11:00AM Friday, June 30, 2017, at the Evergreen Cemetery (Gainesville, FL) with Superintendent Lowell T. James officiating.
He was preceded in death by his Parents and two Brothers - Broward Williams and Joel Buchanan. Left to cherish his memory are his: sister - Uneeda Buchanan of Gainesville, FL; nieces - Reda Buchanan and Leda Buchanan; Nephew - Elliott Buchanan (Kasia) of Miami, FL and a daughter; 5 grand nephews; 8 grand nieces; and a host of cousins and special friends - Lenard Peoples, Leon Marshall, Frederick Daniels Jr. and Kenneth Stokes - and a good friend - Martha.
