She was born July 5, 1937 to James and Grace (Spring) Adcox in Kansas City, Missouri. They proceeded her in death. She had no brothers, but was born the 7th of nine girls. She was really proud of that and always wanted people to know that 1940 she and all her sisters at the time were on the front page of the Kansas City Star on Mother's day.

She went to Northeast High School in Kansas City. She met her future husband, Donald Richardson at a carnival in April of 1954. She had only been 17 for 12 days when they were married July 17, 1954. He proceeded her in death in August 10, 2006.

Alice and Don had five children. Donald Eugene Richardson (proceeded in death, August, 1979). Cynthia Anne Richardson, Eudora, David Wayne Richardson, Lawrence, Steven Allan Richardson, Lawrence and Phyllis Jean Saler-Stadley, Eudora. Alice had six grandchildren: J.D. Merrill II (preceded in death, March 2010), Heather Richardson, Eudora, Truitt Mason, Lawrence, Eric Saler, Lawrence, Amanda Richardson-Bledsoe, Lawrence and Julia Richardson, Topeka. She a had five great grandchildren as well.

Alice was a stay at home mom until her kids were in school. She liked to sew and would make all her children's clothes when they were small. She was a room mother at the school. She was also an active member of the PTA in those years. She was a Cub Scout leader and a Brownie leader when her children were young. She volunteered her time as a greeter at the high school and enjoyed volunteering at the polls during election times.

Her first job was Pyle's Meat Market in Eudora. Later she worked at Weaver's Department store in Lawrence. She retired from K-Mart Corporation in 1995. She also enjoyed genealogy and quilt making. She was a member of the Happy Hatters red hat club in Eudora.

The family would like to thank Medicalodges Eudora and Good Shepard Hospice for their care and loving support.

Her first born son, Donald Eugene Richardson is listed here but my sister maintains the page and will not add the information to show my mom and dad as his parents.
