Elsie M. Morgan was born March 11, 1845, in Wheeling, West Virginia. She was married to Henry H. Armstrong, November 3, 1864. This union was blessed with ten children, seven of whom are still living: Rost Green of Lawrence; Hubert and Parla of Hartwell, Neb., and Charles, Hays, Vernon and Willard of Circleville. Otis, Sanford, and Virginia Gordon preceded their mother in death. Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong came to Kansas in 1878, locating in this community ... Mr. Armstrong died December 21, 1885 ... when but eleven years of age, at which time she united with the Methodist church ... On Wednesday evening, January 4, with all the children gathered at her bedside, she passed peacefully in the beyond, having reached the age of 76 years, 8 months and 23 days. Besides her children she leaves thirty-one grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one full brother, Dan Morgan, of Circleville, and some half-brothers and sisters in West Virginia. ... the pall bearers were her six sons. ...
