She was born April 18, 1925 in Carlinville, Illinois to Albert M. Hammann and Mathilda (Bassler) Hammann. She married Louis O. Smith on May 3, 1952 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Gillespie, Illinois.
She was a homemaker. Louisa was Treasurer and Ladies Aid at Redeemer Lutheran Church, an Election Judge for Brushy Mound Township, a volunteer for Carlinville Senior Center, and enjoyed traveling with Five Star Club.
She is survived by her spouse, Louis Smith; children, Leland L. (Nancy) Smith, Lorraine L. (Jerry) Strode and Linda L. Smith; grandchildren, Nichole Schuette, Stefan Smith, Brandon Strode and Britney Porter; five great-grandchildren and brother, Theodore Hammann.
Louisa was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Walter Hammann and Russell Hammann.
