Louisa (Vaughan) Hart was born December 4, 1837 in Nova Scotia. Her parents were John and Eunice Whitcombe (Millett) Vaughan. Louisa married John Hart October 10, 1856 at Windsor, Hants County, Nova Scotia. John, born December 7, 1827, was the son of William and Elizabeth (Shanks) Hart.
John and Louisa had thirteen children: Freeman Hart (died young), John Alexander Hart (3 February 1862 – 1 August 1952), Mary Hart (abt. 1862 – May 12, 1867, died of consumption), Isaac Hart (November 10, 1865 – 1920), Sarah (Hart) Reed (March 12, 1868 – May 8, 1954), Katherine “Kate” (Hart) Tracey (September 19, 1869 – April 6, 1961), Eunice Hart (September 19, 1869 – unknown, poss. died at birth, Katherine’s twin sister), James Hart (September 20, 1871 – unknown), Henry Hart (September 20, 1873 – unknown), Nelson Hart (October 3, 1874 – October 15, 1945), William D. Hart (August 10, 1875 – unknown), Thomas Hart (October 28, 1878 – died young of typhoid, date unknown) and Ella J. (Hart) Colby (August 31, 1879 – unknown).
Louisa and John raised their family in Windsor Forks, Hants County, Nova Scotia. They lived, at least for some time, in the house John was raised in and it is believed his father, William Hart built. John was a lumberman and a farmer. Kate (Hart) Tracey wrote in a letter dated April 12, 1956 to her first cousin Everard Hart, “I had one nice Mother if ever there was one and I had a good one and I had a good father too. I was his pet in the family.” John Hart died January 11, 1915 and Louisa (Vaughan) Hart died February 20, 1921. John and Louisa are buried together in Vaughan Community Cemetery, Vaughan, Hants County, Nova Scotia. Written by Janie Hart, great niece by marriage
