Our hearts are filled with sadness at the loss of our father, Ed Schroeder. We take great comfort in knowing he is in the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Saturday, July 15, 2017, Ed, age 96, was surrounded by family who loved him.

He was born September 25, 1920 to Fred and Minnie (Bos) Schroeder.

He had served his country faithfully as a Second Lieutenant with the U.S. Air Force. After many years as an active insurance agent, Ed had retired from MetLife Insurance Co.

He was preceded in death by his daughters, Patricia Ann Steele, and Karen Lynn Johnson; five sisters and two brothers, Mabel, Ada, Sadie, Doris, and Judy, Howard, and Roy.

Ed leaves behind his wife of 71 years, Frances, whom he loved and cared for despite her seven-year struggle with severe Alzheimer’s Disease. He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Jan (Dave) Hocking, Becky (Dave) Rittersdorf; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Lois Stock; and sister-in-law, Leatha Schroeder; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends may meet Ed’s family Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home (West Building), 4235 Prairie, S.W., Grandville and Friday one hour prior to his service.
