Arlene Theresa Ann Baker, 91, of Waterloo, died Sunday, July 16 at Nation Cottage, Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls.

She was born April 30, 1926 in Petersburg, Iowa, daughter of Henry and Rose Lammers Engelken.

She married Edward J. Baker on July 17, 1951 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg.

Survivors include seven daughters, Theresa (Dan) Mehner of Gilbertville, Barbara (Steve) von Wald of Cabot, Ark., Julie Baker of Waterloo, Nancy (Tim) Gifford of Waterloo, Mary (Gary) Denham of Manassas, Virg.; Carol (Mo) Baker of Waterloo and Cindy (Larry) Weber of Cedar Falls; one son, Gerry (Therese) of Ames; 11 grandchildren, Nicholas, Heidi, Eric, Whitney, Kendall, Maria, Garrett, Tiffany, Sarah, Adam, and Jennifer; five great-grandchildren, Brett, Ashley, Harper, Bode, and Isabelle; three brothers Hugo (Catherine), Daniel (Dee) and Martin (Joyce) Engelken, and one sister, Rita Engelken.

Preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Cyrilla Engelken and Elva Engelken and a grandson, John Adam Baker.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 20 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Public visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary service. Visitation also for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorial may be directed to the family.

She was a loving wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma!
