Cheryl Dawn Lane, 72, Minot and former manager of Lane's Vent Fast died on Saturday July 15, 2017 in a Minot hospital from complications related to cancer.

Cheryl was born on August 5, 1944 in Jamestown, ND to Byron and Ruth (Solberg) Lane. She was reared and educated in Surrey and Minot prior to graduating from Minot High School in 1962. She continued her education at Minot State University and the University of North Dakota.

Cheryl returned to Minot in 1967 and then resided at various places in the U.S. where she was employed for fifteen years as a mortgage broker for various banks, mortgage companies and savings and loans. She returned to Minot in 2001 to assist her mother in the management of the family business, Lane's Vent Fast. She retired in 2009.

Cheryl was a member of the Board of Directors of the Northwest Council of the Girl Scouts. She was President of the Calhoun County, Alabama Mortgage Brokers Association, District Chairperson for the Republican Women in Alabama and the Third District Republican Party -Minot. Also, she was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Eagles Aerie, Sawyer Lions Club, Sons of Norway and was Past President of the Minot Kiwanis Club and continued her involvement in that organization as the Lieutenant Governor of the Minnesota-Dakota Kiwanis District.

Cheryl especially enjoyed the Norsk Hostfest and other ethnic celebrations, helping to organize her class reunions, reading and doing cross stitch.

Cheryl is survived by her mother Ruth Lane of Minot and cousin: Carol Weberg of Duncanville, TX.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her father Byron Lane and sister: Christi Pittman.
