Godfrey William Goss emigrated to America in May 1882, on the Indiana at the age of twenty-four. He fell in love with Alice Buckley, a paintress at the family pottery factory, before leaving England. She finally joined him four years later at which time they married upon her landing. They had five boys, the second son became my grandfather, Archibald.

He worked at his own pottery factory in Kokomo, Indiana where he create many items. When Godfrey's inheritance came through he closed or sold off the pottery and moved to Eldorado, Oklahoma; 1907. He bought a farm there as well as putting up $85,000 to found the First State Bank of Eldorado. Not long after that he and Alice moved to Raymondville, Texas and became a "gentleman" farmer. He and Alice lived out the remainder of their lives there.
