Robert M. “Bob” McCorkle, age 95 of Anderson and formerly of Elwood and Curtisville, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Providence Health Center in Anderson following a brief illness. He was born April 25, 1922 in Curtisville, the son of William A. and Blanch M. (Russell) McCorkle. Bob worked as a fork truck driver at Delco Remy in Anderson for 30 years and retired in 1974. Bob was very proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the V.F.W in Frankton, U.A.W. #662, Quincy Masonic Lodge in Elwood, and the Scottish Rite. Bob was saved and baptized 43 years ago at Grace Baptist Church in Anderson. He was an avid outdoorsman, and especially enjoyed fishing, boating, and hunting. He also enjoyed playing the harmonica. More than anything, Bob loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Bob’s family includes 3 daughters, Treava (husband Terry) Ancil of Anderson, Vicki (husband Bennie) Price of Anderson, and Brenda (husband Nathan) Edwards of Anderson; sister, Rosemary Boles of Elwood; 8 grandchildren, Mandy (husband Jeff) Hauk, Jennifer (husband Steve) Teague, Kelly (husband Ted) Treesh, Shelly (husband Rob) Weston, Tiffanie (husband Josh) Plew, Justin (wife Meghan) Price, Chassidy Simmons, and Bryant Simmons (girlfriend April Wright); 21 great-grandchildren; former spouse, Freida B. McCorkle of Anderson; special dog, “Izzy”; and several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and 5 brothers, Russell McCorkle, Wonie McCorkle, Bud McCorkle, Frank McCorkle, and Virgil McCorkle.
A funeral service celebrating Bob’s life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Daniel Stevens of Grace Baptist Church in Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Elwood with military honors conducted by the U.S. Army and Elwood V.F.W Honor Guard. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 prior to the service at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
