Maynard W. Briggs, 89, of 15 Ivy Lane Farmington, N.H., died March 2, 2006, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Bingham, Maine June 11,1916, the son of John and Susie (Lathrop) Briggs. A self described "tough old Yankee", he lived in South Windsor and Vero Beach Fla. prior to moving to Farmington. He proudly served with the Navy during WWII and upon his return was employed at The Underwood Corporation for 31 years. He spent the next 8 years until his retirement as the Electrical Inspector for the town of South Windsor.

Mr. Briggs was a proud member of the Masons (Evergreen Lodge) and the Wapping Community Church for over 50 years. He took great pride and pleasure in his hobby of restoring antique cars, but took greater pleasure in his love and respect for Mother Nature. He was happiest when tending his garden or teaching his grandchildren how to identify trees and plants, how to find the North Star or how to predict snow. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He has left his mark on his family and those who had the good fortune to know him. He will live in our hearts forever.
