Richard E. Betts, 90 years, of Council Bluffs, died July 7, 2017, at the Rose Vista Home in Woodbine, Iowa.
Born in Council Bluffs, he served with the United States Navy during World War II. He was a self-employed carpet layer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Grace (Cain) Betts; his sister, Dorothy College; and a brother, Paul Betts.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Arlene; his two daughters, Barbara Ellis and Susan Robinson; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, 11 a.m., at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be an hour prior to the funeral. The family will direct memorials. Casual dress is encouraged for the service.
