Bessie C.C. Simmers, 79, a resident of the Nebraska Veterans Home, died Thursday at a local hospital. Services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. John Russell will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery...
Mrs. Simmers was born Feb. 20, 1906, at Clarks, the daughter of Henry and Christine Reine Boettcher. When she was 4, they moved to Columbus where she began her education. Later they moved to Grand Island. She was a 1924 graduate of Grand Island High School.
She married Elmer Haire on April 13, 1925, at Council Bluffs, Iowa. They lived in Grand Island. He died in 1938. She married Harry Simmers on June 10, 1946, at Salina, Kan. They also lived here. Mr. Simmers died in 1976. She had been a clerk at Safeway store here. Mrs. Simmers was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the American Legion auxiliary.
Survivors include nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
