Jacquelyn "Jackie" Wright, 79, died July 14, 2017 at her home in Dodge City, Kansas. She was born on November 8, 1937 in Burlington and moved to Dodge City as a child. She was raised by her mother Doris (Schneider) and step-father, Oakfurd W. Speer.
Jackie atttended Dodge City Schools, graduating from Dodge City Senior High School in 1955. She continued her education at St. Francis School of Nursing in Wichita, Ks., graduating in 1958. Jackie worked at St. Francis Hospital, Oklahoma University Infirmary and as a nurse for a private practice in Norman, Ok.;
Jackie married Jimmy Lee Wright on Oct. 10, 1959 in Enid, Ok.
She enjoyed gardening, reading, crocheting, knitting and painting.
Jackie is survived by her husband, Jim, a son, Jeffrey of Dodge City, KS. and a daughter, Julie of Garden City, Ks.; 2 grandsons, Jon Graf of Garden City, Ks. and James Graf of Larned; three great grandsons, four great-great grandchildren, brother E. Wayne "(Butch) Lindsey and wife Carolyn of Canyon City, CO.
She is preceded in death by her parents as well as several aunts and uncles.
Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City on Wed. July 19, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie in care of Swaim Funeral Home.
