Sandra "Sandee" J. Childers
October 15, 1946 - July 7, 2017

On Friday, July 7, 2017, the kind and generous spirit of Sandee Childers began a new journey as she left her earthly family and friends. She will always be admired for her love of people, kindness to those in need, and ability to fill any room with laughter.
The third daughter of Thurman and Anita Childers, Sandra Jean Childers was born in Bakersfield California in 1946. Sandee graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1964 and attended California State University Long Beach. After graduating with a Bachelor's Degree, Sandee began her life's calling.
Sandee worked as a Social Worker for Kern County Human Services the majority of her career. Helping others was her true passion; and she raised her two daughters in the same spirit of selfless service. In the last years of her career, Sandee found great joy working at the A. Miriam Jamison Children's Center in Bakersfield, California. With her Jamison family, Sandee was honored to make a difference in the lives of thousands of children, hundreds of families, and countless others who were touched by her gentle spirit.
Sandee remained her fun-loving, kind, and giving self to the end. Although she struggled with the challenges of a genetic heart condition in her final years, Sandee never stopped laughing, traveling, shopping, or making new friends at every opportunity.
She leaves behind a large and loving family which includes daughters Jennifer and Madalyn and their husbands, her three grandchildren, as well as her two incredibly supportive and loving sisters Lynda and Nina and their husbands Steve and Michael. Sandee has 19 nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, and grand-nieces whom she adored and spoiled. Her two cats, Stella and Sam, were her constant companions and the source of many funny stories.
A family memorial dinner was held in her honor. Her spirit was present in the love around the table, the food prepared, and the memories shared. Sandee will be cremated in a private ceremony at Miller Memorial Mortuary in Visalia, California and will finally join her beloved parents Nita and Thurman.
You may help continue her life's work by performing an act of kindness in her memory by making a donation in her name to the A. Miriam Jamison Children's Center (Checks can be made payable to: A. Miriam Jamison Children's Center 1010 Shalimar Drive, Bakersfield, CA 93306) all donations will go directly to the children at The A. Miriam Jamison Center or to The Exodus Road (theexodusroad.com) a nonprofit dedicated to ending child slavery and share your stories and condolences. Her kind and generous spirit will be truly missed.
Arrangements entrusted to Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Ave., Visalia, CA (559) 732-8371.
