Our loving husband, father and son, “Mike” was born to Dorothy (Seaman) and Harley Hildebrand at St. Anthony’s Hospital. He passed away suddenly at home in Olympia, WA, from complications of Type I Juvenile Diabetes, which he acquired at age 14. He started first grade in Wenatchee, WA, but the family moved to Arizona in 1963, where his father’s job with Sears took them. They lived in Arizona cities the next 14 years until, again, they moved to California for another Sear’s management job. Mike graduated from Antioch, CA, High School in 1976, where he was active in all sports. He started college in Concord, CA, when another transfer took them to Olympia in 1978. There, Mike enrolled and graduated from Central Washington University with a degree in Education. This was the tenth and final school Mike attended with his father’s many transfers with Sears. Mike never complained, as he made new friends quickly. At age 14, Mike’s pancreas stopped producing insulin and he was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes. This never stopped him from doing the things he wanted to do. He played all sports and played them well. He made the football team at Central Washington University, served as a lifeguard at Lake Chelan, went parasailing over the lake and played League Softball in Olympia for 20 years. He never complained, never said “why me?”. Four blood tests and four or more insulin shots a day, became routine from age 14 onward. On July 19, 1986, Mike married Yvonne Raboin in Olympia, where they resided for the next 30 years. They both ended up working for Washington State in supervisory positions. Yvonne was forced to retire early due to health problems. They have one son, Taylor, who followed his parents’ path to the state after graduating from college. Mike was organ donor, because he cared about others Two people who had been blind, can now see and his bone marrow may be used for stem cell research.

Mike is survived by his wife, Yvonne, and son, Taylor, at home; father, Harley, and brother, Danny, of Wenatchee, WA; brother, Scott, and sister-in-law, Judy, of Seattle, WA; several cousins in the Penhallegon, Truitt, Nelsen, Hildebrand families and nephew Daniel’s family.

A Memorial Service was held in Olympia, WA, on December 8, 2016, for Mike’s friends and employees, but Mike always wanted to return to Wenatchee. His remains will be buried in the Wenatchee Cemetery on May 15, 2017. Local Memorial Services will be held at Jones & Jones-Betts Chapel on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Wenatchee Humane Society.
