Janet Parker Ailstock, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and accomplished attorney died suddenly on Saturday, July 8, 2017.

The youngest of four girls, Janet was born April 29, 1948 at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida to Dorothy Parker and Clarence William “Bill” Ailstock. She grew up as the daughter of an Air Force officer, living in California, England and Colorado, and then returned to Gainesville. She graduated from Gainesville High School in 1966. She attended the University of Florida earning her BA. She and David both attended The London School of Economics in the late 70’s. Additionally, she received her Juris Doctorate and served as Senior Tax Editor for The Law Review, University of Florida School of Law. She practiced Law in Miami and then Gainesville while David joined the Law School Faculty at the University of Florida.

Janet will be best remembered for her constant love and support for her family and friends and always encouraging them to raise the bar and attain their goals. She treasured her home, garden, traveling and her kitties. We called her “Queen”, a name she acquired in high school and in our hearts, she will reign forever. Janet was loved by many, but we knew she loved us more.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Patricia Ailstock Iscaro. She is survived by: her husband of forty years, David Monroe Hudson; her daughter Beth Partain Stevenson (Dr. John Stevenson) of Gainesville; son Andy Reary (Kate) of San Diego, California; her sisters: Marcia Ailstock West of Archer and Pam Ailstock Miller Gravely (Bill) of Tallahassee; and grandchildren Cassidy Rae O’Connell, Zander and Christian Stevenson and Emma Stevenson; Sam Reary. Her nieces and nephews; Tammy West Cooper (Skip) & John West (Debbie) both of Gainesville; Kelly Gornto Fox (Dr. John Fox) of Lexington, Kentucky; Chance Gornto of Orlando; Jill Miller David (Tad) of Tallahassee, Abby Miller Brooks (Brandon), Mary Anne Miller Terrell and (Richie) all of Tallahassee; Major Patrick Sullivan (Jenni) of San Diego & a host of grandnieces and nephews and her life-long girlfriends: Kathy Ayers, Nancy Baxter Stone, Barbara Martin and Kate Gallagher.

Visitation will be held at the home of David and Janet 2615 NW 5th Place in Gainesville on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 between 5:00 and 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at The Archer Methodist Church, 17121 SW 137th Lane, Archer, Florida 32618 at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 12, 2017.
