Benjamin P. Edwards Jr., 91, joined his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 12, 2017. Pete, as he was known, was born in Nashville on Tuesday, September 1, 1925, to the late Benjamin Porter Edwards and Martha Lewis Edwards, he is also preceded in death by his wife; Gladys Aliene Edwards, daughter; Sylvia Talley, and 2 grandchildren.
He served in the Navy during WWII, being involved in 7 battles, including the Battle of Tassafaronga on Guadalcanal in 1942. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer from the US Navy Reserve after 26 years' service. He was also a US Civil Service retiree, having worked for the postal service and the IRS. He was a member of Riverwood Church of Christ.
He is survived by a sister; Mary Frances Rosa, daughters; Nelda Clements, Martha Edwards, and Joanna Qualls (Dean), 6 grandchildren, & 5 great grandchildren.
Burial in Spring Hill Cemetery.
