She was born Michelina Gentile on January 15, 1933 in Hamilton, Ontario, to Francisco and Mary (Leo) Gentile.
Michelle E. Gentile married Edward M. Schmidt in 1958 and enjoyed forty years of marriage until his passing in 1998. Besides being a homemaker, she worked at Haughton Elevator for 23 years.
Michelle was a long time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sylvania, volunteered at Rosary Care Center at Lourdes, and Hospice of Northwest Ohio as a bereavement volunteer. She enjoyed cooking and preparing meals for family and friends, loved her pet dogs Snoopy and Niobe who both preceded her. Michelle will long be remembered as a friend to everyone and a proud and loving mom, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Marianne Pappas; Monica (David) Zaborski; sons, Matthew (Shirley) and Michael (Leisa) Schmidt; grandchildren, Mark, Angela, Joe, Amanda, Hannah; five great grandchildren; brother, Mario Gentile. Michelle was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and five siblings.
Mom taught us that to cook for others is to spread affection through a bite of Italian Love. Mangia!

Friends may join the family for visitation at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, OH, Tuesday July 18, 2017, from 4 to 8pm. A Funeral Mass will be conducted Wednesday, July 19 at 10am from St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5373 S. Main St., Sylvania, OH. Interment to follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Those wishing to give a memorial are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
