IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Darold McIntier Ames, 67, of Idaho Falls, died August 21, 2006 at his home from complications of emphysema. He was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.

He was born September 21, 1938, at Rexburg, Idaho, to Jesse McIntier and Anne (McCraken) McIntier. He was later adopted by Joseph A. Ames and Rebecca M. Simmons Ames. He grew up and attended schools in Rexburg. He later served in the U. S. Marines and attained the rank of Private First Class.

He married Dixie Lee Hammer January 16, 1959. They were later divorced. On April 10, 1986, he married Linda Raye Reed in Idaho Falls. He owned and operated A-1 Mobile Lock and Key for 36 years and also worked with the Bonneville County Fire Department for 20 years.

His hobbies included locks, keys, hunting, fishing, camping, guns, and coin collecting.

Brother: Jerry McIntier, Idaho Falls, ID
15 Grandchildren & 3 Great Grandchildren
He was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister, his parents and a grandson.

A Memorial Celebration will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 24, 2006, at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge). The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the services at Wood Funeral Home. Cremation has already taken place.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Hospice of Eastern Idaho, 1810 Moran Street, Idaho Falls, ID 83401.
