James Martin Ammons Sr., died peacefully in his sleep at CMC in Charlotte on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at the young age of 50.

He was born Oct. 11, 1966 in Fairfax, Virginia. James was preceded in death by his father Bobbie Gray Ammons.

Left to cherish his memory are his children Sarah Ammons and James Ammons Jr.; mother Margaret Ammons; siblings Joy Whitney, John Ammons, and Sharon Sterling; nieces and nephews Virginia Whitney-Tack, Robbie Sterling, Timothy Whitney, Heather Sterling, Rachel Sterling, Naomi Ammons and Gideon Gray Ammons.

Funeral services will be held noon Saturday June 17, 2017 at Liberty Baptist Church in Charlotte with Pastor Gary Berry officiating.

Mr. Ammons will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Belmont following the service.

The family will receive friends 11 a.m. Saturday at the church prior to the service.
