Nancy’s professional life included a Master’s Degree and certification to teach the gifted. She taught English for 35 years. Most of her teaching career was at St. Charles High School. During that time, her peers voted her teacher of the year for the St. Charles School District. Nancy also served as English department chairperson. During her career, she became highly respected for the quality of her classes and her special empathy for students and their issues as well as pleasure in their accomplishments.
Nancy grew up in Sikeston, Missouri. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, tweeting, cooking, and hanging out with the “Lunch Ladies”. She was a tea connoisseur, and enjoyed drinking tea with her husband. She also loved animals, enjoyed the Christmas season, and donating to her causes. She will be remembered for her generosity and empathy. Nancy’s greatest joy was taking care of her family.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Dennis, and two daughters, Michelle Black and Christine (Sean) Halligan. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Duncan and Ryker Halligan. They love her and miss her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry M. and Opal Boardman and her brother, Arthur Boardman.
