Lowell H. LaFountain, 85, of Sayville, LI, died on Monday, July 10, 2017. A lifelong resident of Sayville, Lowell attended Sayville High School. Mr. LaFountain was a life member of the Sayville Volunteer Fire Department where he also served as the Director of the Blue Jay Drum and Bugle Corp. for many years. He was a Boy Scout Leader and took 3 groups of boys hiking in Philmont, New Mexico. He worked for more than fifty years as a custom builder and carpenter.

After 52 years of marriage, Mr. LaFountain was predeceased by his wife Shirley in 2006. He is survived by his five children, Gloria Burgess and her husband Glenn, Lowell, Jr and his wife Dawn, Robert and his wife Colleen, Richard and his wife Eileen and Ronald and his wife Lisa, as well as fifteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Friends and relatives will gather Friday, July 14th, 2-4:30 & 7-9:30 p.m. at Raynor & D'Andrea Funeral Home in West Sayville. A religious service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 15th at the funeral home and interment will follow at Sayville Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions made in memory of Lowell to the charity of your choice, are appreciated.
