Danner, Peter Lyn, PhD Born April 7, 1921. Passed into the Arms of Our Lord on September 14, 2008, at the age of 87 years. Loving husband of Kathleen (nee Tully). Beloved father of Mary Kay Wagner, Lawrence (Kathy), Barbara, Jane Sustar, Joseph (Kristine) and Magdalene (David) Wong. Doting grandfather of 27 and great-grandfather of 2. Dear brother of Irene Murphy. Very special friend of John and JoEllen Stollenwerk. Further survived by a gazillion nieces and nephews, ALL of them his favorites; too numerous to count other family, friends and colleagues (you know who you are and so do we). Preceded in death by his parents Linval Danner and Martha McIntyre Danner, son Peter John Danner, sons-in-law Philip Wagner and Peter Sustar, parents-in-law Magdalene and Raleigh Hubbard, brothers Robert and Paul Danner, and sisters Martha Mooney and Mary San Felipe. Visitation on Friday, September 19, 2008, at the Funeral Home from 5 PM until 8 PM. Visitation on Saturday, September, 20, 2008, at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 800 Glenview Avenue, Wauwatosa, from 9 AM until the time of Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 AM. Burial to follow at Highland Memorial Park. Peter was Professor Emeritus of Economics at Marquette University (Ret) 1961-1986. He was department chairman for 6 years, received his BA and MA from St. Louis University and his PhD from Syracuse University. He is a past president of the Association for Social Economics and editor of the Review of Social Economics. Peter was an honorary member of Alpha Sigma Nu and an officer of Beta Gamma Sigma. He was the author of numerous articles and had published 4 books. He was a founding member of PAVE and worked tirelessly for the advancement of educational opportunities for children everywhere. Peter was a highly respected teacher and scholar in the field of Social (values based) Economics, and was a recipient of the Marquette University Teaching Excellence Award in 1980. Devout, and steadfast in his Faith, Peter maintained a lifelong affinity for, and affiliation with, the Society of Jesus and was a long time member and supporter of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Wauwatosa, WI. Peter was a passionate Marquette Warrior Basketball fan and a devout Sunday afternoon worshipper of the holy Green and Gold. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Marquette University High School General Scholarship Fund, Marquette University General Scholarship Fund or the St. Jude Organ Fund appreciated.
