FORT HALL - Eunice Maureen Cissne Gunn, 79, longtime Fort Hall resident died Sunday, June 11 at Pocatello Regional Medical Center following an apparent heart attack.
She was born May 29, 1910 in Keams Canyon, Ariz. to James Everett and Alma Jones Cissne. She was raised in Mescalero, N.M. and attended schools there.
She married Colin Bruce Gunn Sept. 1, 1928 in Tularosa, N.M. In 1936, they moved to Fort Hall. She received training as a nurse in 1936 and began working with the Public Health Service. She worked for more than 30 years as a public health nurse on the Fort Hall Indian Reservation. Mr. Gunn preceded her in death in 1966. She was a member of the Retired Nurses Association.
She enjoyed gardening, handwork, horseback riding, rock hunting and studying Native American history.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ira E. (Florence) Hays, Chubbuck; four sisters, Mrs. Jim (Geneva) Campbell, Redwood City, Calif., Hazel Cascio, Pocatello, Mabel Nelson, Saugus, Calif., Mrs. O.B. (Virginia) Lane, Newberry Springs, Calif.; a brother, James E. Cissne, Westminster, Calif.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
At her request private memorial service were held Sunday, June 11 at Packham Mortuary in Blackfoot.
