his parents, Ocie and Thelma McKnight Wood.
Virgil served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict,
earning a Purple Heart. He belonged to the D.A.V.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Kotha; his half-brother, James
Ballard and wife Sammy; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Linnie
Elliott, Charlene Wilburn, Eula Decker, Joyce Copley, Opal Wyatt, Rev.
Claude and Opal Medlin, Sandlin and Audelle Wyatt, William and Verl Wyatt;
and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel
with Rev. Della Snyder and Rev. Michael Carter officiating.
Burial will be in the Gray Cemetery, with military honors by V.F.W. Post
1410.
Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday at O'Neils.
