John Charles Dillingham, 93, formerly of Woodfin, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Emerald Ridge Rehabilitation and Care Center.

A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Franklin Leroy Dillingham and Elizabeth Parker Dillingham. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Benison Dillingham; son-in-law, W. Anson Bell; and brother, Robert Leroy Dillingham.

Mr. Dillingham was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp and served in the South Pacific during WWII. He later retired from Armor and Company and the Candler Market. He was also a member of Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church and the Senior Men's Sunday School Class.

Surviving are his daughter, Donna Lee Bell of Asheville; brother, Kenneth D. Dillingham of Weaverville; sisters-in-law: Alice Zachary of Asheville, and Rachel Cruey of Bristol, TN; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, July 15, 2017 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Pastor J. Michael Brown and Pastor Wade Zachary officiating. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
