RUSS MAPLE KILLED IN CRASH
Businessman and former Jefferson County Commissioner, Russ Maple, 67, died after a car accident Thursday night. Reports say that his wife, Rebecca, was hospitalized with serious injuries. Maple was vice president of Edward J. Miller Insurance Co. He served as Jefferson County "A" District commissioner from 1995 to 2002, and he ran for secretary of state in 2003, losing to Republican Trey Grayson. Maple served on numerous Louisville-area boards. "It's shocking news," Louisville Metro Mayor Jerry Abramson said Friday morning upon learning about Maple's death. "His wife is in our prayers in terms of hoping she'll pull through. He's been a very active and involved civic and community individual who has done a lot of good for this community over the years and our prayers go out to his family." Funeral arrangements will be handled by Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home on Frankfort Avenue.
