After graduating from Miami Jackson High School, Dan became a master carpenter and was a member of the carpenters' union for 65 years. He was a hard worker but always found time to laugh and have fun. Bowling was a favorite activity throughout his life. He and his brother, Bones, bowled competitively making many friends along the way. Dan also enjoyed fishing, playing his guitar and from a young age, he loved nature and animals. Caring for his many dogs always brought him great joy. Dan became a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church in 1984 and helped to maintain the buildings and grounds.
Dan is survived by his wife of 49 years Joan Saunders (nee: Ditzenberger); son, Danny Saunders (Rhonda); daughters, Priscilla de la Rosa and Pamela Saunders; step-son Bill Durr; step-daughter, Kathy Meyers (Gordon), 15 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers, Joe and Lonnie(Bones) and his sisters, Annette, Kathleen and Ettie Bee.
