Mrs. Jones was born July 6, 1921 to the union of the late Mr. Charlie Owens and Mrs. Tommie Owens of McGregor, Texas. Jewel was the first born of ten children. At an early age Jewel united with Pleasant Hill Baptist church under Pastor C.D. Dixon and later Rev. J.L. Clark.
Jewel later met and married Alvin Jones of Waco. To this union two children were born; Harold Jones of McGregor and Carlotta Jones Bolridge, formerly of McGregor.
Jewel worked for Cinderella Clothing and Fashion store for 40 years where she labeled and helped with sales. Upon retirement, she ran a child care nursery out of her home where she reared many children from McGregor.
Jewel enjoyed cooking and baking, often serving breakfast in the J.L. Clark fellowship hall for a few years. Along with her passion to cook, Jewel loved gardening as a hobby, growing numerous plants and flowers in her yard.
She is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and four sisters, husband of 61 years, Alvin Jones, and daughter, Carlotta Jones Bolridge.
She leaves to cherish her memory son, Harold Jones (Johanna) of McGregor; 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters in law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
