WELCH, THELMA G.
Mrs. Thelma G. Welch, Centenarian age 100, peacefully left us on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 in the comfort of her home. Mrs. Welch was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Florida A &M University, Bethune Cookman College, and Ohio State University. She was a member of Paradise United Methodist Church, where she served as Church Organist, for a number of years. Mrs. Welch is also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and The Red Hatters. Mrs. Welch was a retired educator having served as the choral instructor at A.L. Mebane High School. Her memory will live on in the hearts of nieces and nephews, Virginette Welch, Alachua, FL, nephews, John W. Johnson, Feirmon Johnson (Inez) both of, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Virgil Welch (Tiffany), Dacula, GA, Oreste Johnson (Pam), Prattsville, AL, Eric Johnson, Darryl Johnson (Shika), Keenan Johnson, Kimberly Johnson, Deiera Johnson, Shatonya Bradley (Antone), all of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Pam Johnson, Ocoee, FL and sister-in-law Edith Johnson.
Funeral Service for Mrs. Welch will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Santa Fe High School Auditorium, 11:00am, Reverend Geraldine W. McClellan, Officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant plain Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Chestnut Funeral Home, Inc., 18 N.W. 8th Avenue, Gainesville, FL.
Visitation Friday, July 14th, 2017 at Chestnut Memorial Chapel from 2:00pm until 4:00pm, 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Paradise United Methodist Church. Mrs. Welch will repose on Saturday at Santa Fe High School Auditorium one hour before the Service. The Cortege will form on Saturday at the home of Mrs. Welch, 13721 N.W. 43rd Place, Alachua, FL at 10:00am.
