Lane Patrick Smith, age 57, of Covington, PA, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, PA. He was born August 20, 1959 in Blossburg, PA, a son of Stanley and Shelva (Gaylord) Smith. Lane was married to Elizabeth "Liz" (Brion) Smith. He was the owner/operator of L. P. Smith Co. in Mansfield; a member of the Covington Church of Christ; F&AM of PA, Lodge #247; member of Snowshoe Hunting Camp; enjoyed swimming, working in the field with his brush hog, being on his tractor, and watching his children - the light of his life - in their school activities. He was a U. S. Army veteran.
Lane is survived by his wife, Liz; a son and daughter, Brion Lewis Smith and Lauren Elizabeth Smith at home; his mother, Shelva Smith of Mansfield; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Donnie and Jeanette Brion of Covington, PA; sisters-in-law, Kathleen (Joe) Kriner of Covington, PA, Annette (Todd) Winder of Eden, NY; nieces and nephews, Angela (Kriner) and Anthony Garritano, Jessie Kriner, Nicolette and Brice Winder; great niece, Sofia Garritano. He was predeceased by his very special grandmother, Helen Gaylord and his grandfather, Lewis Gaylord.
